Who we are

SSMIT ("we", "us") is a software studio based in Sacramento, California, and the maker of SignScan, a document scanning and signing app for iPhone. This policy covers the SignScan app and this website, ssmit.app. Questions about anything here are welcome at smit@ssmit.com.

Your documents stay on your device

Every document you scan, import, sign, or edit in SignScan is stored locally on your iPhone, inside the app's private container. All processing happens on-device:

• Scanning and capture use the camera on your device only.
• Text recognition (OCR) and handwriting reading use Apple's on-device Vision framework.
• Translation uses Apple's on-device translation engine and works fully offline.
• Redaction and blur permanently alter the document on your device.

We operate no servers that receive, store, or process your documents. Your documents leave your phone only when you export or share them — and then they go where you send them, not to us.

Because documents live in the app's local storage, they are included in your device backups if you have iCloud Backup or local backups enabled. Those backups are governed by Apple's privacy policy and your own iOS settings, not by us.

No accounts, no analytics, no tracking

• SignScan has no sign-up and no user accounts.
• The app contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers.
• We do not collect usage data, device identifiers, or location data.

Device permissions the app asks for

SignScan requests system permissions only when a feature needs them:

• Camera — to scan documents, IDs, and business cards. Images go straight into your local library.
• Photo library — only if you import photos into a document.
• Contacts — only if you use Business Card capture to save a scanned card. The card is saved through the system contacts sheet, under your control; we never read your existing contacts.

You can revoke any permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Purchases

SignScan Pro is sold through Apple's App Store (as a one-time purchase or a monthly subscription). Payment is processed entirely by Apple — we never see your name, card details, or billing address. The app validates your purchase on-device using Apple's StoreKit framework.

Data you choose to send us

• Support email. If you write to smit@ssmit.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to help you, and we don't add you to any list.
• Website forms. If you join a waitlist or notification list on ssmit.app, we store the email address you submit and use it only for the update you asked for. Unsubscribe by replying or using the link in any email.

What we never do

• We never sell or rent personal information.
• We never share your data with third parties for their marketing.
• We never use the contents of your documents for anything — we can't; we don't have them.

Data retention and deletion

Your documents exist only on your device: deleting a document in the app removes it, and deleting the app removes everything the app stored. For anything you've sent us by email, write to smit@ssmit.com and we'll delete it.

Children

SignScan and ssmit.app are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its effective date. A material change (there are no plans for one) would be called out in the app's release notes.
